— WEEKLY MEMO —

 

Hi Runners,

Welcome to those who have just joined GetRunning and of course to those that have returned back to the group. We start our new training block this weekend and with over 40 runners joining us, in fact almost up to 50! Its sure to be a great training block. For those that are new to us, this is the weekly memo explaining whats coming up and going on in GetRunning, keeping you informed, in fact a lot of runners have said " The GetRunning Memo is by far the most most amazing running newsletter I have ever received!"

This weekend with the start of block 2, we have a lot of runners joining us that are working towards different marathons. Whether it be Hawaii, New York or Auckland Marathon, this is the start of training up to your goal. The 12 week program aims to get you up to a solid half marathon point, putting you in a position if you wish to take on the full marathon. This is the business end of the year and the main season for running.. Look forward to the exciting times ahead and make sure you stay committed to your goal. The GetRunning training block is compulsory as a way to help you along, but remember its up to you to commit 100%. In order to achieve something as great as a marathon, as anyone will tell you, they don't come easy but the reward is great! See you all this Saturday.

In other news

We are working like mad men on a gold mine to get the Hawaii Marathon brochure out to those interested, I know a lot of you are waiting patiently. We hope to have this by early next week, then you will be able to start planning an amazing trip to Hawaii in the sun, beach and sipping cocktails alongside Jay Jay and Dom (oh and a marathon thrown in there for good measure!)

Please note that entries for both the Auckland full marathon are selling very very fast this year, in fact the half marathon is now sold out! Please do not rely on GetRunning this year as we will not be able to source guaranteed entries.

  • Rotorua Half and Full Marathon

Congratulations to all of those that took part in the Rotorua full and half Marathon in the weekend, I had live reports coming back to me. Some good times and as per usual Rotorua did not disappoint in the hard race category... Though lets be honest, who has come across a easy marathon!

There were some well deserved celebration drinks that evening at an Irish Pub and no doubt Bob's arms were rising to the ceiling by night fall!

12 Week City Event Group Training

 

Starting this Saturday!

 

The next block starts this Saturday, make sure you you let us know asap if you want to join us last minute.

 

Saturday Session Details

 

When:

Saturday 7th May

Where:

GetRunning Offices, 186 Victoria Street West

Duration:

7am-8:30/45am

 Please be at the office by 6:50am

 

Details:

The Session consists of induction with full information of the 12 week training block and further details. Then we put you through a 5km run test to determine pace groups, finishing off with some team building exercises.

We will pop out for coffee afterwards for anyone that wants to join

Tuesday and Thursday Session Details

 

Tuesday

When:

Tuesdays

Where:

Starting from the GetRunning Offices, 186 Victoria Street West

Duration:

6am Sharp! - 7am

Please be at the office by 6:55am

 

Details:

The Session consists of a 30min out and back run at a slightly up tempo pace with a 30min core/glut and hip strengthening session designed to functionally strengthen you specific to running.

Thursday

When:

Thursdays

Where:

Starting from the GetRunning Offices, 186 Victoria Street West

Duration:

6am Sharp! - 7am

Please be at the office by 6:55am

 

Details:

The Session consists of a 45min interval run session working between hard and easy running continuously. You will be advised on correct variation in speeds depending on your pace group.

 

—  NORTH SHORE EVENT TRAINING —

 

Starting Tuesday 7th June

Its exciting to announce a North Shore training session to our block 2 training calendar. In association with Jerry Clayton BMW - Takapuna and Run Auckland series, starting the 7th of June we will be running a weekly Run + Strength session. Working towards the North Shore Marathon on the 28th of August the session will be run on a Tuesday morning starting at 6am from Jerry Clayton BMW and run for 1hr covering a run and core strength program.

 

Sessions will cost $10 per casual session or $99 for the full 12 weeks. Plus as a added extra, for those that join the full 12 weeks of training you will receive a Jerry Clayton North Shore marathon training run top.

 

Also in association with Jerry Clayton, GetRunning will be at the three remaining Run Auckland series races, providing shelter/storage and sausage sizzle at the end of the race. This will be open to anybody who is a part of the North Shore training group and/or GetRunning.
