Hi Runners,

 

Well I think you will all agree that the mornings have definitely got a little colder, the gloves and hats are coming out and bits n' pieces are getting a lot chillier! Fortunately with both City and North Shore groups being of such a hard breed, it has not deterred the strong hearted folk that you all are! Though talking to some of my clients throughout the country, they have also noticed the drop in temperature, and candidly point out that we have it easy up North! Can't argue with that really can we. Its great to see everyone sticking at it in the winter.. you will only be rewarded in the summer with summer hot bodies and fitness to match! 

 

With the Taupo half marathon only 5 weeks away its getting excitingly close, make sure you let me know if you are coming and need accommodation. I will need to confirm the rooms at the Suncourt Hotel very soon. And if you are not staying with us then please let me know if you will be joining us for the dinner the night before, the more the merrier! Plus we have the support tent on the day of the Race. $50 for runners which includes food, massage, support... the lot. Supporters are free so bring the family, dog, grandma... whoever and whatever fits in the trunk!

-Taupo Accommodation Package -

Taupo Half Marathon - 7th August

Its getting near that time and I have put together the package for the Taupo Half Marathon. Like last year the group will look to travel down on the Saturday morning, set up base camp (Gaz's amazing Marquee Extravaganza!) and settle into the Hotel. That night we will have a group dinner with a race fueling meal, then get a early night. Sunday morning sees us up early and down to the GetRunning base camp, then race a lovely and picturesque half marathon. After wards be welcomed back with loads of BBQ food, massage and shelter, plus all of your fellow runners to support you. Later on you can pop out to the Hot Pools and relax. You then have the option of going back to Auckland or/ join the hardened bunch that stay Sunday night for a celebration dinner and drinks (last year about 20 of us stayed for Sunday and had a ball of a time!)

 

This is open to anyone in GetRunningPlease e-mail back if you would like to secure a spot. We will then send out a invoice closer to the time.

- Block 3 Auckland City -

 

 

 

We will be coming out in the next couple of weeks with the schedule for the next training block and details. Please book your place with Tash asap and reply to this e-mail if you will be joining us in this block.

- Block 3 North Shore -

 

We are just in the process of putting together the final details for the North Shore training group. Just to let you know, we will definitely be going ahead with this group and be looking to start it early September. The block will work very similar to the city training group with 3 group runs a week and working towards events. The groups will stay separate, but the City group will host North Shore for a couple of runs in the block and vice versa.

- Saturday Session Details -

 

One Tree Hill/Ambury Farm Run.. 16km with a 18km option for group 1 - 2

Details: This week you take on the infamous Ambury Farm... a beautiful run from One Tree Hill, over the old Mangere Bridge and around the shore line to Ambury Farm, with panoramic views of the harbour what better way is there to spend a Saturday morning!!?? on the way back you will be treated to some undulating terrain and a nice finish welcome.

 

When:

Saturday 2nd July

 

Where:

Meet at the Toilets from the Green Land entrance to One Tree Hill... drive up to the first round about and a sharp turn left.

Group 1-2 7:15am

Please note the slightly later times... The park does not open until 7am

 

 

Water/Fuel Station:

We will have a Water/Fuel station at:

5kms: Corner Coronation Road and Kiwi Esplanade

8kms: Ambury Road entrance to Farm (oranges and bananas will be provided)

 

Please let me know if you have a willing family member or friend that would like to help with the station

 

We will pop across the road to Frolic for coffee after wards for anyone that wants to join.

 

 

- Tuesday and Thursday Session Details -

6am - 7am

Details:

The Session consists of a 30min out and back run at a up tempo pace with a 30min drill strengthening session designed to functionally strengthen you specific to running.

6am - 7am

Details:

The Session consists of a 45min interval run session working between hard and easy running continuously. You will be advised on correct variation in speeds depending on your pace group.

 

 

- Attendance Incentive -

 

As part of the 12 week group training, we offer an incentive attendance prize to the person who turns up to the most sessions. A $200 for first place & $100 for second place GetRunning voucher able to be credited to a future training block.
