— WEEKLY MEMO —

 

Hi Runners,

 

Great to see such a fantastic turn out this week, the inspirational e-mail must have hung around your ears at 5:30am in the morning when your alarms went off. Well done with training so far, the groups are coming along nicely with a record turn out to the Breakfast after the run on the Saturday. We had 33 runners - I know this has nothing to do with running but lets face it.. it seems to be the most important part of running! also having 33 for breakfast is one hell of a job for a cafe... Thanks to Latin Larder in Takapuna for putting up with us. Next we'll be opening up our own cafe! Kind of fancy myself in a little pinny and cream donuts splashed down the front!

 

This weekend we tackle the Biomechanics and Stretch session, its important that you are there... Not only will I forward my vast and intriguing knowledge on running style and efficiency, Sarah will take you through a nice stair circuit and you will be treated to a 30min Foam Roller stretch session back up at the gym after wards.. Wow!

 

Today we have the Shoe Clinic buying day, if you would like to make a late appearance then please quickly e-mail me so I can let Greg at Shoe Clinic know. 

 

We start the Takapuna group training next Tuesday

 

Lastly check out the attendance incentive board below... a lot of runners in position to take the crown out! Plus I have upped the stakes.. I've pulled out the big bucks!

  • Taupo Half Marathon

Just a note to let everyone know that we are starting to put together the Taupo Half Marathon accommodation package and will have something out to you in the coming weeks. Make sure you enter yourselves into the race (place GetRunning as your team). A lot of the old crew were asking if we will have to put up the Bl*&dy tent again on the Saturday... Of course we will! Its tradition and this year I am putting up a $50 bar tab to the one that shows most enthusiasm and marquee erection knowledge!

 

Hawaii Marathon Tour

 

Its finally here, the Honolulu Marathon! GetRunning in association with Calder and Lawson Marathon Tours presents the Hawaii Marathon Tour. Jay Jay and Dom will be hosting it with myself hosting the group, this trip is going to be a whole lot of fun.

Shoe Clinic Buying Day


Today

Remember you get 25% of Asics and 10% off everything else in store.

 

How it works:

- You book a time slot between 4:30pm and 6:30pm

- Pop into Shoe Clinic - Ponsonby Road

- Get fitted for a pair of shoes and pay for it then (of course with a discount!)

- If Asics then you won't by able to take them right away, but instead Gaz will bring to your next training session. If any other item at 10% off you will be able to take home with you that night.

Social Dinner

 

11th June

 Please note that we have had to change locations due to the size of the group.. We are now up over 30. Please let me know if you want to come along as we may have to book out the whole restaurant!

 

New Location: Haru no Yume

3 Vernon St - Freemans Bay (Just down from the GetRunning Office)


When: Saturday - 11th June

Time: 7:30pm

Location: 3 Vernon St - Freemans Bay

Price: It is going to be $40 per head, this includes corkage (so please bring your own wine)

We will have a couple of entrees each with a main.. I will be pre-ordering the food, we will have a full selection of dishes so everyone can have a taste of everything.. Much the same way as we work with Nashiki. In fact the restaurant is very similar food.. Its just opened down the road and looks great. Should be a fantastic night.

Open to: Anybody involved with GetRunning, old and new members plus partners/friends, all welcome.

Remember to bring your own wine.

Puma Buying Day

 

After all the hype and excitement around the Puma buying day, unfortunately they have had to close the show room for a month. Its a real shame but we will not be able to hold the Puma buying day until the end of July. I am so sorry but I will let everyone know as soon as its back up and running and we can book it in. On the plus side they will have a new full range of clothing for you to be the first ones to see and touch!

12 Week City Event Group Training


Saturday Session Details


Biomechanics & Run + Foam Roller Stretch Session


When:

Saturday 4th June

Where:

Meet at G.R. Office

Start Time:

7am

Please get there ten minutes early

 

Details: The group will be split into 2. Half will be taken through a Biomechanics session while the other half will be taken through a cardio session with Sarah, then you will swap over. Straight after this, we pop back up to the gym and go through a 20-30 minute foam roller stretch education session.

 

Tuesday and Thursday Session Details

 

Tuesday

Where:

Starting from the GetRunning Offices, 186 Victoria Street West

Duration:

6am - 7am

Please be at the office by 5:50am

 

Details:

The Session consists of a 30min out and back run at a slightly up tempo pace with a 30min core/glut and hip strengthening session designed to functionally strengthen you specific to running.

Where:

Starting from the GetRunning Offices, 186 Victoria Street West

Duration:

6am - 7am

Please be at the office by 5:50am

 

Details:

The Session consists of a 45min interval run session working between hard and easy running continuously. You will be advised on correct variation in speeds depending on your pace group.

Attendance Incentive

 

As part of the 12 week group training, we offer an incentive attendance prize to the person who turns up to the most sessions. A $200 for first place & $100 for second place GetRunning voucher able to be credited to a future training block.

 

Wow this is brilliant.. so many in the running for most attended!

—  NORTH SHORE EVENT TRAINING —

 

Starting Tuesday 7th June

Its exciting to announce a North Shore training session to our block 2 training calendar. In association with Jerry Clayton BMW - Takapuna and Run Auckland series, starting the 7th of June we will be running a weekly Run + Strength session. Working towards the North Shore Marathon on the 28th of August the session will be run on a Tuesday morning starting at 6am from Jerry Clayton BMW and run for 1hr covering a run and core strength program.

 

Sessions will cost $10 per casual session or $99 for the full 12 weeks. Plus as a added extra, for those that join the full 12 weeks of training you will receive a Jerry Clayton North Shore marathon training run top.


Also in association with Jerry Clayton, GetRunning will be at the three remaining Run Auckland series races, providing shelter/storage and sausage sizzle at the end of the race. This will be open to anybody who is a part of the North Shore training group and/or GetRunning.


First session Details

 

Where: Jerry Clayton BMW - Lake Road

When: 7th June

Time: 6am (please be there by 5:50am)


Details: The first session will take you through how the sessions are going to work - take you through the course, introduce you to everyone and get to know each other, we will take you through some team building exercises to warm you all into it!
