Hi Runners,

Click the images above to find out more and inquire about our training blocks starting next weekend.
Its not long now! Only a week and a bit until we start block 1 Group Running. Registrations are starting to flow in and the group is starting to shape up nicely, just to let you know a few answers to questions that have been asked. With the four group sessions, you can chop and change when ever you wish between each session, we just ask that you give us a indication as to what sessions you will be attending at the start to help us with knowing roughly what numbers will be attending each group.
We have also started receiving inquiries into a lunch time training session, we would like to think that this session would be starting in block 2 and look to run between 12-1pm, let us know if any of you would be keen for this session, it would cover a run and interval session fitting into 50mins.
Runners were also asking about Accommodation options for the Rotorua Marathon. I will be organising a Hotel option with dinner included and we will look carpool down to Rotorua on the Friday. It will be fantastic opportunity for the team to have another great trip away. All supporters are welcome and we need to make sure we represent with flying colours this year! More info will come out on the accommodation in around 6 weeks.
With Tash having moved to Lululemon, there was only so long before I started to rock back in forth in the corner from an overwhelming sense of being crushed by e-mails! So just to let you all know, Karen Forbes has started with GetRunning and will be taking care of administration or as she likes to call it G.D.B! A great big welcome and already she seems to showing me up!
See below for the full details that have been released for the St Clair half Marathon Tour.. places are selling fast so get in quick!
Lastly, please note that if you can not make the introduction workshop after the first group session next Saturday, I will be running another the week later on the 11th of Feb. Also remember that this workshop is open to anyone, even if you are not joining the running group. Its a comprehensive and fantastic way to understand the basics of movement in running and Pace and program structure. E-mail back if you are interested in joining this intro workshop.
GetRunning Wall of Fame
GetRunning is starting a Wall of Running Fame, how it works is when you are at a event or overseas race and you get a photo at that event with a GetRunning shirt on, then I will pin it up on the Wall of Running Fame.
Rules of the Wall of Running Fame:
- You must be wearing a GetRunning shirt with our logo on it.
- The photo must have yourself and something that proves you are at the event i:e, finish line or monument or a really big sign!
Watch out for this next weekend.. it will be making its grand appearance, I have already had promises of photos from all over the country and world! Looking forward to seeing it in action!
New Group Running Info
GetRunning Introduction Workshop
An area that we want to improve on at GetRunning is the education of our runners when
they first enter the team. Starting in our first block, we will be holding a two
hour practical introduction GetRunning workshop. Designed to cover everything from basic run
technique and understanding the forces of running, through to run program/pace
structure and getting to grips with the adaptation process that our bodies go
through in these first stages. The workshops will run three times in the year at the start of each training block, they are compulsory for anyone starting with GetRunning and also available to anyone who is starting out in running, even if you are not joining the group. Its a great workshop with a thorough basic overview of running.
An additional 4th session to the GetRunning Week
With the need to increase what we are offering on the running front, GetRunning has decided to add a forth training session into the Training Schedule. A strength and drills session will be starting on Monday the 13th of Feb (6th of Feb is a public holiday) The session covers full body conditioning using the bodies weight and running drills. It was a hit at the end of last year and we hope for it to continue throughout the year. You can pick this session as one of your three runs from the packages available or/ add it to your training in a six week block, gotta love the flexibility of that!
