GetRunning Weekly Memo - August 18th 2011

 

 

 

 

— Gaz's Word —

 

Hi Runners,

 

Wow... a massive group, infact the largest GetRunning has ever worked with! Once again it looks to be a great group of people. The first session got off to a brilliant start and the feedback was outstanding, everyone loved the Horse/Jockey team building game!!

 

This weekend we run a new course From Takapuna to Birkenhead, starting from our new office at Les Mills Takapuna. I'm looking forward to getting our teeth into a new block and discovering some fantastic new runs and locations.

 

Also this weekend we have the Stretch and Breathing workshop with Vincent Bolletta, remember this is free for anyone on any of the packages and a must attend! For anyone that did the last one, this is different again and will be sure to test and challenge you. Remember to meet at the GetRunning Office on Sunday at 12:15pm. Vincent will take you through this 1hr fantastic session, enjoy!

 

Meanwhile, I will be up North taking a Pahia Running Clinic. Its tough but someone has to do it! For anyone from up that way that wants to join in, just e-mail back at gaz@getrunning.co.nz and I can secure you a place. The clinic runs from 3pm-5pm this Saturday and takes you through Running Biomechanics (the wrong/right and efficient running) and Race Nutrition, plus tips on how to approach running properly.

Cost: $100

 

Lastly, please remember that the group sessions are compulsory! That means you must attend! Even if there is snow, rain or hail... Harden Up! Just a friendly reminder from your coach, those runners with Injuries/Flu's or Pneumonia are exempt :0)

 

Also we have had a couple of spaces come up in the City 12 week training group, if you still want to join us, just let us know as its not to late to join.

This run takes us through the scenic locations of Northcote and Birkenhead, the run is undulating and fantastic prep for Auckland half and full marathon!

 

Support Stations

5km (Half Marathon Turnaround) - Corner of Lake and Onewa Road (Elete/Water)

8km (Full Marathon Turnaround) - Roundabout at Mokoia and Waipa St (Elete/Water/Bananas/Oranges)

 

 

Afterwards - We will pop down to Latin Larder for brekkie for those that wants to join for a coffee or brekkie.

The session is going to still run with the 30min out/back run. But this time you will be split into two groups for the strength component.

Details:

We start off with the intervals again for this session, in 3 weeks we swap to a new location and session.

 

- Attendance Incentive -

 

As part of the 12 week group training, we offer an incentive attendance prize to the person who turns up to the most sessions. A $200 for first place & $100 for second place GetRunning voucher able to be credited to a future training block.

Hi North Shore Crew.

I hope you have all settled into the North Shore Office ok.. I'll be seeing you all next Thursday, I hear Nats has already warmed you up to the free coffee! Nice to see.

 

We have 20 runners confirmed for North Shore now, so great to see a fantastic bunch of runners coming together for this group. The City group is looking forward to you all hosting us this weekend.. Bring out the banners and party poppers, we look forward to the welcome! See you Saturday.

Details:

The Session consists of a 30min out and back run at a up tempo pace with a 30min strength/Drills session designed to functionally strengthen you specific to running. This Session Changes in two weeks time... New strength exercises coming!

Details:

The Session consists of easy-hard running. Designed to be a soft approach of increasing strength for running. Its great for adding a bit of pressure without overcooking it.
