Meet the Coaches

GAZ BROWN

Gaz Brown, the director and founder of GetRunning Ltd, has been involved in the fitness industry since 2005 when he started in the UK. After returning to New Zealand in 2006, Gaz continued personal training at Les Mills in Auckland and completed various courses in advanced biomechanics and run coaching. Since then, he has been run coaching full-time and leading the GetRunning team of coaches and support staff.

With a global approach, Gaz and his team advise clients on the proper steps to take when taking on their first half or full marathon or wanting to achieve their personal best.

Gaz has successfully introduced many people to running, including taking Kerre Woodham to the Auckland, New York, and Paris Marathons. He also co-wrote the book "Short Fat Chick to Marathon Runner" with Kerre, followed by "Short Fat Chick in Paris," both of which have sold over 20,000 copies.

SAM DOBSON

Sam (or Dobbo) is an invaluable resource for all runners, having previously won the Rotorua marathon and proving himself not only as a great runner but also as a fantastic coach. Dobbo is also available for personal training and even offers to run marathons with you personally, both domestically and internationally!

With Dobbo’s extensive race knowledge and competitive background, he specializes in guiding runners to achieve their personal bests and employs various strategies to help them overcome slumps.

Whether you aim to enhance your marathon time or boost your running pace and strength, Dobbo is the coach you need.

At GetRunning, Dobbo focuses on our faster runners and, naturally, on helping them achieve that elusive personal best!

LEANNE ROHLOFF

Leanne has run 9 marathons and trained as a coach.  Specialising in the New York Marathon and working with beginners, Leanne’s ethos is simple:

  • It is easier to stay fit than to get fit

  • It is essential to have the right programme

  • It is important to understand heart rates

  • The power of the mind is as important as the power of the body

  • Running with a group of similar paced runners is a powerful tool

  • Running will bring fitness, fun, friendship and fulfilment to your life 

Leanne decided to become a coach so she can help others find a love of running. She knows how it feels to be unfit and out of shape, how much better it feels to be fit and strong.  With motivation, support and a personalised programme it is possible to achieve any running goal. At GetRunning Leanne is our go to for beginners starting out at 5km, right through to those wanting to complete their first Marathon.  She is passionate about helping you get there.

JONO BAY

Jono is GetRunning’s all-rounder coach, having excelled in both marathons and triathlons/Ironman. He comes with a wealth of knowledge and know-how.

Jono has achieved personal bests in both marathons and Ironman events while balancing work and family commitments. He helps runners excel and balance their training.
